Hope you all enjoyed a relaxing time over Spring Break. I'm sure the kids will be tired Monday and exhausted when Friday rolls around. Oh wait, that's describing how I'll be this week!!!
We begin Unit 5 in Reading Street with the story "Suki's Kimono." We'll be working on synonyms and will be writing about our best friends. Math continues with measurement (length & liquid) and volume. Fossils will be introduced in Science.
I am so impressed with the student's Biography reports and LOVE their Rube Goldberg/Simple Machines project. I'm hoping,(fingers crossed), to have pictures posted this week!
Until next week!

What an incredible weekend!! On Saturday night, with friends from out of town, we ate dinner on my back porch!! March 17th and we're eating outside!!!It was very hard for me to come inside tonight to become a teacher...but here I am!!! Our story for the week is a folk tale, Fly, Eagle, Fly. We will, again, work on the Cause and Effect strategy for comprehension. Our Spelling words (or word analysis)follow the pattern VCCCV. Fractions will be our focus in Math and we will continue with force/work/machines in Science.

Listening, Learning and Laughing in Room 202
What a beautiful Sunday! I've enjoyed shopping, working outside and walking my dog Butler. It's tough to come inside and think about school! Yes, teachers like the weekends, too!! Our Reading Street story is another biography called "America's Champion Swimmer: Gertrude Ederle." Last week the students were unable to work on their Biography reports due to firemen visits and working on examples of Reading OAA. I've schedule time to work on the reports this week. Spelling words concentrate on the suffixes -er,
-or, -ess, -ist. We will work on Math OAA and continue with fractions. Enjoy the rest of the day!! Until next week.

Listening, Learning and Laughing in Room 202
We've been very busy in Room 202! I hope you can check out our writing and fraction examples that are in our hallway. The students did a wonderful job writing a personal narrative, "When I Was Sick" and had fun with making Fraction Sundaes!!! We will begin working on biography reports this week. Our Amelia Elementary library will be a great place to get reaquainted with!! We will continue to work on fractions during math. Individual and the class picture is scheduled for Thursday, March 1st. Let's practice our smiles!!!
Until next week, lets keep Listening, Learning and Laughing in Room 202.

Listening, Learning and Laughing in Room 202
Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I'm waiting for the Super Bowl to begin and of course, I've already enjoyed numerous snacks!! Thanks goodness I have friends and family who will help eat them ,too!!
This week is a review week for Reading Street, so they will be no Spelling test on Friday. We will be reviewing throughout the week. We will be working on LOTS of writing skills, such as adding adjectives to our writing pieces. I have popcorn activities planned, (for writing you ask!!) and thinking about a time they were sick, just to name a few. We will have Unit 7/9 Math test on Friday, Feb.10. Your child will be bringing home study guides, which we will complete in class. In Science we will continue to learn about soil.
Hope to see you at the PTA Valentines Dance on Friday!!
